Making Friends Group
The Making Friends Group is designed to increase
social and behavioral skills for your child.
Skills that are the focus of the group include:
-
Effectively
communicating with peers and adults
-
Expressing
feelings in a socially acceptable way that
is understandable
-
Improving
cooperation skills
-
Achieving an
ability to control impulses and delay
gratification
-
Learning how to
make and meet personal goals
-
Listening to
and following directions
The group sessions
are once a week for a 10 to 12-week period
depending on where you live. The
groups are 1½ hour in length. Because the skills
developed build upon each other, it is important
that you and your child are able to commit to
the 10 to
12-week period. If you feel that your child
will not be able to attend the groups
consistently for the 10 to 12-week period, it may be
best to wait for the next session.

are able to commit to the entire 12 week period.
If you feel that your child will not be able to
attend the groups consistently for a 12 week
period, it may be best to wait for the nest
session.
If the Making Friends Group sounds like a
service that would benefit a child you know,
please call Peak Wellness at 632-9362 and speak
with your child’s therapist, or Karen
Nielsen, Dorothy Daum, Judy Owens or Hye Suk
Pilcher.
You can also call the UPLIFT office at 778-8686
