Arapaho/Riverton Location

The After School Program will be held every Thursday at St. Stephen's School for 3rd through 5th grades beginning at 1:00pm and ending at 2:00pm.

The After School Program class focuses on teaching children how to strengthen their social skills while providing a fun setting.  Students will make crafts, play games and work on behavior and social skill goals to earn points for rewards.  If you have any questions on this program, please contact Becky Lancaster at 307-857-6601.

Making Friends Group 2008

Peak Wellness Center, Youth and Family is pleased to offer another Making Friends Group during the school year.  There will be two sessions during the spring semester.  Groups are divided into ages, with one group being offered for children in the 1st through 3rd grade, and one group being offered for children in the 4th through 6th grade.

The Making Friends Group is designed to increase social and behavioral skills for your child.  Skills that are the focus of the group include:

  • Effectively communicating with peers and adults

  • Expressing feelings in a socially acceptable way that is understandable

  • Improving cooperation skills

  • Achieving an ability to control impulses and delay gratification

  • Learning how to make and meet personal goals

  • Listening to and following directions

The group sessions are once a week for a 12-week period.  The groups are 1½ hour in length. The first session is from 3:30 until 5 p.m. and the second session is from 5:00-6:30 p.m. The groups will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (19th and Central) and will run from January 23rd through April 16th.  Because the skills developed build upon each other, it is important that you and your child are able to commit to a 12-week period.  If you feel that your child will not be able to attend the groups consistently for a 12-week period, it may be best to wait for the next session.

If the Making Friends Group sounds like a service that would benefit a child you know, please call Peak Wellness at 632-9362 and speak with your child’s therapist,  or Karen Nielsen, Dorothy Daum or Jennifer Simpson.
