WANTED

Wyoming Families need your assistance to continue services for children with challenging behaviors. Your help COULD prevent these children from appearing on “real” wanted posters.

Children with emotional disturbances are not just “bad” kids with poor parenting…..they are from all walks of life, regardless of race, social standing or age. In fact, children as young as 2 years old can exhibit anti-social behaviors that are “at risk” and may result in juvenile delinquency and dependency on Welfare and other agency systems later on in life. Children with emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities are among the most underserved group of children within our state.

UPLIFT continues advocacy efforts to enhance the child-serving system within Wyoming to ensure adequate mental health services that are child-centered, family-focused and community-based.

UPLIFT is working to implement the Wyoming Early Screening and Intervention Project across the state to identify these children in their pre-school years in order to get appropriate services on board in the most timely fashion for the most positive outcomes.

UPLIFT begins their fourth year of providing the Wyoming Attention Camp Program to help kids with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and their families learn appropriate skills for excelling within their homes, schools and communities. This state–of-the-art summer day camp treatment program is conducted in Cheyenne and Casper each summer.

UPLIFT sponsors statewide educational conferences on a variety of issues for families and professionals.

UPLIFT provides one-on-one support for families of children with emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities. We focus on the strengths of the families we work with. This support consists of advocacy with schools, information and referral, support groups and a listening ear.

UPLIFT staff members are the parents or guardians of children with mental health needs.
